BRUSELAS, 1 (EUROPA PRESS).- La Comisión Europea anunció hoy su intención de revisar la directiva sobre multipropiedad en régimen de tiempo compartido, que data del año 1994, para acabar con las "lagunas jurídicas" detectadas en el sistema actual.
El comisario responsable de Sanidad y Protección de los Consumidores, Markos Kyprianou, señalo que su objetivo es "evitar que los vendedores poco escrupulosos abusen de potenciales clientes, muchos de los cuales compran estos productos tras enamorarse de un lugar de vacaciones".
Los contratos de multipropiedad permiten a los consumidores pasar un periodo determinado de tiempo (al menos una semana) en un lugar de vacaciones al menos durante tres años. La actual directiva fija normas mínimas en materia de protección de consumidores a escala europea, por ejemplo exigencias de una información adecuada sobre el producto que se vende.
La norma tiene también como objetivo prevenir la 'venta forzada', y para ello contempla un plazo de reflexión durante el que el cliente puede retractarse y no puede realizarse ningún pago.
No obstante, Bruselas constata que algunos operadores han puesto en marcha nuevos productos análogos a la multipropiedad (como los contratos de 35 meses o los clubes de vacaciones), que explotan las lagunas jurídicas de la norma y conducen a frecuentes quejas de los consumidores por el incumplimiento de los compromisos de calidad.
Antes de reformar la directiva, el Ejecutivo comunitario lanza una consulta pública, que durará nueve meses, para conocer la opinión de todos los afectados.
