Den Festgenommenen wird Betrug in großem Stil durch den Verkauf von sogenannten Urlaubspaketen vorgeworfen.
Das Vertriebssystem des Club Puerto Atlantico war bereits mehrfach Gegenstand der Berichterstattung verschiedener Fernsehsender in Deutschland und im Ausland. In die Kritik gerieten hierbei neben den dubiosen Kundengewinnungsmethoden insbesondere das ausgeschlossene Rücktrittsrecht sowie der fehlende Nachweis der Verfügbarkeiten für die "verkauften" Urlaubswochen.
Bereits seit mehreren Jahren lagen den zuständigen Ermittlungsbehörden Anzeigen wegen des Verdachtes des Betruges vor. Die als Ergebnis dieser mehrjährigen Untersuchungen durchgeführte Aktion am vergangenen Samstag brachte neben einer großen Menge von Unterlagen und Computerfestplatten auch ca. 400.000,00 Euro Bargeld zutage, die während der Durchsuchung und Festnahme gefunden und beschlagnahmt wurden.
Zwischenzeitlich sind die meisten der Verhafteten wieder auf freiem Fuß. Der Versuch, die Tätigkeiten wieder aufzunehmen, führte am Dienstag nach ca. einer Stunde erneut zur Schließung der Büros.
