Opsporingsambtenaren van Jusitie hebben op vrijdag 17 maart 2006 in Mogán (Zuid Gran Canaria) een twintigtal medewerkers van het toeristencomplex Club Puerto Atlantico opgepakt, op verdenking van fraude bij de verkoop van ‘time share’-appartementen.
De slachtoffers van deze vermoedelijke fraude, overwegend afkomstig uit Scandinavië, hebben diverse aangiften gedaan betreffende contracten die ze ondertekend hebben. Dit heeft ervoor gezorgd, dat de Fiscalía Anticorrupción (Fiscale Opsporingsdienst) in actie gekomen is.
De meeste gearresteerden, die na hun arrestatie op vrijdag 17 maart 2006 in een autobus werden afgevoerd naar de politiecel, zijn, onder borgstelling, weer op vrije voeten gesteld. De politie laat weten, dat er een spreekverbod is opgelegd.
Het heeft de politie de hele vrijdagmiddag gekost, om de gearresteerden te lokaliseren en om bewijsmateriaal te verzamelen in de diverse kantoren, waaronder enkele kantoren in het toeristencomplex zelf. De meeste gearresteerden werden op hun werkplek gearresteerd. Ook het registreren van de aangetroffen documentatie kostte de nodige tijd. Dit is bevestigd door het dienstpersoneel van Club Puerto Atlantico, het toeristencomplex dat zich hoofdzakelijk richt op ‘time sharing’ (deeltijd-eigendom).
